Description
The Lesser Kestral is a small and rare migratory Falcon that nests in fissures beneath the tiles, attics and cavities in walls. In the UNESCO site of Matera - Basilicata - Italy - every year an important colony of Lesser kestrel (Falco naumanni) nests in the cavities of walls and under the house roofs in the Sassi. These parts of Matera are strange, quiet and picturesque; the pale rock makes the scene seem faded, colourless and timeless. Overhead swoop birds of prey which have made homes among the silent sassi including the Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni). Matera has one of the most important population of these birds (Italy is the third place in Europe with the largest populations) so this city bears an important responsibility for the conservation of this species which is considered Endangered expecially for the loss of reproduction sites. The building restoration that has been made for tourist hosting doesn't care about the needs of lesser kestrel nesting and is undermining the survival of these little prey birds. The male has a grey head and tail like male common kestrels, but lacks the dark spotting on the back, the black malar stripe, and has grey patches in the wings.

I really like how the bird is looking back, at the viewer, nice color against monochrome backdrop. Good job!
