Description
The big smile on this surfer's face in Seal Beach, Ca. indicates he is one with the waves. Generally easy to moderate surfing, Seal Beach River Jetty is home to a regular crowd of firemen, students and a mostly local crowd that enjoys the easy access to this spot in Seal Beach. To the right with the sail boat shark-like fin sneaking up is some challenging surf called barracuda. This is the rock formed jetty of the Long Beach Peninsula and Alamitos Bay. Surf is usually better in the morning and then starts dying a little. Better for long boarding. The jetty is better sometimes and it works well on a big northwest swell. If it is really walled at Bolsa Chica, crowds tend to go to the jetty. The North side pier is good for long board wave, and the South side is good for boogie boarders. It gets super windy most afternoons with a little pollution and sting rays.
