Such a pilgrimage center known throughout the country is the Saviour Cathedral, the seat of the Archdiocese of Aix, considered a national monument. Built for centuries, is built on a site considered sacred for thousands of years. Initially there was no pre-Roman pagan temple. In its place stood a Roman temple and then finally it was replaced by the present church Christian, Roman Catholic.
