Description
This is the stairway to the studio of the famous painter Paul Cezanne in Aix en Provence, France. It has been preserved in its original form. Atelier Cezanne
No art connoisseur can miss out on this house that is still perfectly preserved from the times when it served as Cezanne's studio. Cezanne's studio was created in Aix-en-Provence in 1902 and this is where he worked until he died in 1906. The studio has been pristinely preserved as if Cezanne had popped out for a glass of rose his easels and paints along with various items featured in his paintings have been left scattered in his studio. Cezanne's final stop was the studio he had built on a piece of land he bought in 1901. Ironically the most visited but the least inspirational of all the Cezanne sights, the Atelier Paul Cezanne doesn't hold any works by Cezanne but rather recreates his studio. Not all the tools and still-life models strewn around the single room were his; many were added by the scholar who bought the studio after Cezanne's death. The tall wooden frame in one corner is not an easel but rather a cherry-picking ladder Cezanne used to paint the studio walls grey. Take bus 1 from La Rotonde (av des Belges) to the Cezanne stop and walk five minutes downhill to the mustard house, or walk the 1.5km from town. 9 Avenue Paul Cezanne, 13100 Aix-en-Provence, France
