Description
The Runaway Bride-Taranto, Italy. Photograph taken of a beautiful Italian bride on her wedding day in Taranto, Italy. It reminded me of a 'runaway bride' and was just in time to capture the memory. Taranto is the third-largest continental city of Southern Italy. The founders were Partheniae ("sons of virgins"), sons of unmarried Spartan women and Perioeci (free men, but not citizens of Sparta); these out-of-wedlock unions were permitted extraordinarily by the Spartans to increase the prospective number of soldiers (only the citizens of Sparta could become soldiers) during the bloody Messenian Wars, but later they were retroactively nullified, and the sons were then obliged to leave Greece forever.

Thanks for the great comment Toni! I really felt like I was watching a 'runaway bride'. Fortunately the groom was just outside the frame.
