Photograph taken of the atypical buildings while driving through Potenza Picena, an Italian village in the Province of Macerata, Marche region. Porto Potenza is served by the State Highway SS 16" Adriatica" (Padua-Otranto) and crossed by the A14 motorway Bologna-Taranto. Nearest exits are "Loreto-Porto Recanati" in the north and "Civitanova-Macerata" in the south. The town is located on the Adriatic coast, between Porto Recanati and Civitanova Marche. Le Marche area is the third region alongside Tuscany and Umbria that makes up central Italy. The region lies on the eastern side of central Italy, between the Adriatic Sea and the high Apennine mountains and much of it remains unspoiled by the ravages of mass tourism. The Adriatic coast has been a mecca for "sun n' sand" holiday makers for decades; but few venture far from the beaches. Inland, perhaps more so than anywhere else in central Italy, you will find places where time really has stood still. Compared to its central Italian sisters, here culture comes in more easily digestible proportions but quality, as at Urbino, is often of the very best. Photograph received Staff Award at the Orange County Fair.
